Adapting to Emerging Technology

As professionals in the working world, we see technology as the common method of communication with our students, parents, and other professionals. Network collaboration has improved our level of resourcefulness and, thus, our own teaching practices. As new technology emerges, we are required to be flexible and willing to adapt to what our workplace requires of us.

Our students are no different. They are, at this time, practicing to be professionals in the working world and now is the time to instill the value of adaptability in their lives. Students are not only amazing at learning new technology but also at teaching it to others. The technology classroom will reflect the importance of a community of collaborators while providing support for other students, our building, and our community.

My goal for the students that pass through my classroom is to give them technological resources and a personal focus: Identify and learn the technology that best serves the purpose of my own goal or goals. While there are numerous solutions to the problem, I want to help my students not only recognize that they have choices but that some tools are more effective than others at getting the job done. With this understanding, I hope to see my students fully embrace the practice of lifelong learning.
